On January 20, 2025 at 10 am, we will we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the 7th Annual Shalom Zone MLK Commemoration Service and Luncheon.


All are welcome to join us for a meaningful celebration. As the permanent host of this service, Cross & Crown Lutheran Church is excited to welcome friends and guests from our Shalom Zone partners:

Service Highlights

  • Guest Preacher – Rev. McKenzie Scott Lewis, Center for Congregations
  • Special Guest – Bishop Timothy Graham, Indiana/Kentucky Synod
  • Guest Musicians – Cari on Keys and the Chicago Vitality Band
  • Premier Video Presentation – Young Voices in God’s Shalom Zone (Sunday school students share their reflections on Dr. King’s message)
  • Drum Major for Justice Award Presentation

Collecting Donations

To benefit Changing Footprints Inc. and Outreach Indiana, collection barrels will be set up in the Narthex for:

  • Donations of gently used shoes
  • Donations of clothing & items - see list in the C&C Connection email

Catered Community Luncheon

Following the service, stay for a delicious meal and time to connect with friends old and new.

HOStED BY SHALOM ZONE

This Event is Hosted by Shalom Zone, Communities of Faith in Partnership


Seven local churches have partnered to form an interfaith organization called Shalom Zone. The group includes Allisonville Christian Church, Cross & Crown Lutheran Church, Epworth United Methodist Church, St. Pius X Catholic Church, First Friends Quaker Church, the Garden Community Church, and Metania Church of Transformation. Shalom Zone’s mission statement is “Led by God’s Light, Ecumenically Building the Kingdom of God, One Need at a Time.” Together these faith groups work to make Shalom Zone an important addition to our community.
